One-stop bus and MRT maps for six HDB towns
| COMMUTERS living in six HDB towns will be able to plan their travel routes with better travel information maps at bus stops soon.
From May 15, residents of Woodlands, Yishun, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok and Sembawang can use the maps to find the best way to get to the MRT or LRT stations or the quickest way downtown by bus. Installed at 54 bus shelters, bus interchanges and selected MRT and LRT stations, the detailed Bus Services Map shows an overview of how the trunk and feeder bus services connect with each other, as well as with MRT and LRT stations and other landmarks within the town. Commuters will also be able to see the full routes of trunk bus services, which ply through their town. The integrated travel map was introduced by SMRT to provide user-friendly travel information to commuters. The company also distributed a brochure containing travel information on SMRT buses to all residents in the six towns last year. Mr Chew Hooi Lian, SMRT's Director of Planning & Market Development, said in a statement on Monday: 'Our survey findings showed that commuters need information showing bus routes within a geographic area and how they interchange with each other as well as other modes of transport. 'We are glad that the service information is well received by commuters and have worked to make it more accessible.' | |
