Carbon monoxide detector for cars
| SINGAPORE company Techpro Electronics on Tuesday launched its carbon dioxide detector for cars.
The device, about the size of one's index finger, is designed to sound an alarm and light up when excessive carbon monoxide builds up in the car. The device, called Coprotector, fits into the cigarette lighter compartment in the car. The company said the device is able to guard against car-related carbon monoxide death and poisoning in the car. The colourless, odourless gas found in car exhaust fumes can seep into the car through air-condition vents in the cars, and can cause death without warning. Carbon monoxide is a dangerous gas because it forms an irreversible bond with red blood cells, preventing vital oxygen from binding with the cells. | |
