100 needy families to receive PCs for $80

| NOT even the annual IT fair can compete with a bargain like this - personal computers for only $80. However, these deal is only extended to a group of 100 needy families as part of Project Gapc (Project Giving Away Personal Computers) @ South West - an initiative to assist needy families in bridging the IT gap.
Project Gapc (Giving Away Personal Computers) @ South West aims to help needy families bridge the digital gap by providing personal computers at an affordable price and also equipping them with basic IT competency to enhance job skills capability. The two-day IT course, taught by ITE College West (Bukit Batok Campus) also helps promote family bonding as families are required to attend in pairs comprising of one parent and one child. At the end of the camp, Project Gapc @ South West packages comprising of a basic operating system, document processing and anti-virus software, as well as free broadband internet connection for three years will be given out to the participants. There will also be a live demonstration of PC assembly by the recipients to showcase the skills they have acquired over the two-day IT course. The event will take place on March 15 and March 16 at the ITE College West (Bukit Batok Campus) with guest of honour Madam Halimah Yacob, MP for Jurong GRC and Adviser to Jurong GRC GROs. Project Gapc @ South West was organised by the South West Community Development Council (CDC), partnered with Funan DigitaLife Mall, ITE College West (Bukit Batok Campus), Lee Foundation and supported by Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), ExxonMobil, The Little Company and grassroots organisations in the South West District. | |
