| THE mission: To depict the different aspects of Total Defence creatively on film.
Jurong Junior College rose to the challenge with a clay-animation video clip which showed a clay human character conjuring up various Singapore icons, such as an army tank to depict military defence, a fire scene to show civil defence and the Central Business District to show economic defence. With this clip, the college beat nine other school teams to win this year's N.E.Mation! (II) competition. Colonel Tan Wee Ngee, the director of the Defence Ministry unit Nexus, one of the two organisers, said of JJC's effort: 'The way the clay was moulded was visually appealing and there is an element of fascination for the viewer.' The four-member, all-male team garnered the most votes from the public and the judges, who included professionals from animation company Polygon Pictures and the Media Development Authority. Hwa Chong Institution was first runner-up and Raffles Institution, second runner up. The results of the competition were announced on Sunday at Toa Payoh HDB Hub, with Minister of State for Defence Koo Tsai Kee present.
