More eateries, supermarkets to stay open during 2-day holiday
LOOKING to spend your hongbao as soon as you get it?

This festive season, more outlets will stay open for you to do just that today and tomorrow.

The majority of Dairy Farm stores, which include the Cold Storage and Shop N Save supermarket chains, as well as Carrefour outlets, will be open on both days.

The opening of so many supermarkets marks a change from the situation a few years ago, when many were shut for the two-day holiday.

More restaurants will also stay open to catch a whiff of hongbao action.

Strong demand, for instance, has forced Chang Korean BBQ Restaurant in Dempsey Road to stay open for both lunch and dinner this year, said its manager Ricky Teo, 54.

It traditionally has a half day on Chinese New Year.

Most of the eateries in Clarke Quay will also be open for business, including Quayside Seafood Grill and Shiraz.

And while shopaholics not caught up in the visiting frenzy may find minimal action at many malls, they can get their fix at furniture retailer Ikea or at the Courts Megastore in Tampines.

Those looking for a place to party can head to places in Clarke Quay, where outlets such as Attica, the Pump Room and Highlander will keep their taps flowing.
