| IT WAS a gruelling 94-day journey that took him all across South East Asia, but it paid off.
Renowned Singaporean adventurer Khoo Swee Chiow has successfully set a new record for the World's Longest Journey on Skates. Mr Khoo managed to complete an over 6,000km skating journey, travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia. He did it in a bid to raise awareness of the importance of reducing energy consumption amongst individuals and companies. 'Today is a triumphant moment for me and fore everyone who cares about the environment. This journey has provided me with a strong platform to draw attention to the urgent need for energy conservation,' Mr Khoo said on Monday. Mr Khoo's skating journey started last October in Hanoi, Vietnam. He broke the world record on Christmas Eve, crossing the 4,175 km mark at Hua Tin, Thailand. Mr Khoo is a professional adventurer who is better known as one of the first Singaporeans to scale Mount Everest in 1998. He is also presently the Guiness World Record holder for executing the longest scuba dive in a controlled environment. | |
