Those nabbed were made up of 37 immigration offenders, one Myanmese harbourer and four Singaporean harbourers. The immigration offenders - aged between 15 and 52 years - were mainly from Bangladesh, Nigeria, India, Myanmar and China. Fifteen of them were overstayers while 10 were illegal immigrants. Four of them were unlawful returns and six were Special Pass abscondees. One of the offenders was a Work Permit Pass abscondee while another was a suspected illegal worker. All have been referred to the Police and ICA for further investigations. If found guilty, they can be jailed up to six months and caned at least three times. | |
