'Tomorrow at 4.30pm I will bring the new Cabinet to have an audience with His Majesty,' Mr Samak told reporters on Tuesday as investors awaited a new government to revive an economy in the doldrums over 16 months of a military-appointed administration.

Mr Samak declined to disclose the names of his Cabinet ministers to be submitted to King Bhumibol Adulyadej for approval, followed by an oath-taking ceremony due at 5.30pm Singapore time.

Mr Samak, 72, who described himself in the December election campaign as a proxy for ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, led the People Power Party to within a few seats of forming a single-party government.

The PPP then teamed up with five other parties to form a coalition government commanding 316 of 480 seats in the House of Representatives. -- REUTERS
