Hamilton misses winning feeling
ISTANBUL - LEWIS Hamilton admitted on Thursday that he misses the feeling of winning Formula One races and intends to return to the top of the podium in tomorrow's Turkish Grand Prix.

The 23-year-old Briton hopes to end Ferrari's run of success with a McLaren win at the Istanbul Park circuit.

'Obviously, this weekend I want to score a load of points but, more than anything else, I want to win,' he said.

'I miss that feeling, I miss winning. So that is my plan. Simple as that.'

Hamilton won the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, but has since been unable to stop the Ferrari steamroller from taking charge with three successive victories including two one-two finishes.

'I never approach a race thinking I am the favourite,' said Hamilton, when it was pointed out to him that Ferrari have won the last two Turkish Grands Prix.

'That doesn't make any difference. Felipe has won here the last two years, but we are here to put an end to that, I guess. It is the same every weekend.

'They have done a good job in the last few races and we will push hard to overcome that.'

Hamilton conceded his anxiety has been growing as his run of races without victory continued.

'It does, I think so,' he said. 'We are racers and we want to win. That is the bit I love about this job. When you come to the race, and all that comes together and you win - it is one of the best feelings you can have.'

Massa's love affair with the circuit continued yesterday as he set the pace in first practice at the Istanbul Park track.

He has won the last two races on the 5.338km circuit, which has quickly established itself as one of the trickiest on the Formula One calendar with plenty of opportunities for overtaking.

His teammate, defending champion Kimi Raikkonen, completed just three laps in the 90-minute session - finishing bottom of the time-sheets.

But McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen impressed in his first outing since a horrifying 240kmh crash at the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago.

He finished just 0.133 seconds off the best time of 1min 27.323sec set by Massa. Hamilton, second in the championship, but nine points behind Raikkonen after four races, was third quickest.
