New World record in S'pore
Natalie Coughlin rewrote her own world record in the 100m backstroke at the Fina World Cup here yesterday.

The American swimming star clocked 56.51sec in the two-day, short-course (25m) meet at the Singapore Sports School pool.

Her previous record of 56.71sec was set in New York in 2002.

Hosts Singapore earned two silvers and three bronzes. Asian Games champion Tao Li led the way, finishing second behind Swedish sprint specialist Therese Alshammar in the 50m butterfly.
