Second Malaysian bus crash within a week
TANGKAK (JOHOR) - IN AN eerie replay of Malaysia's worst bus crash last week, an express bus carrying more than 20 passengers skidded along the North-South Expressway here at 4am yesterday and plunged into a 3m-deep ravine.

The big difference was that no one died in yesterday's crash and only two people - the bus driver and a Malaysian woman - had to be warded at Tangkak Hospital here. They are reportedly in a stable condition.

Last Monday's bus accident near Taiping, Perak, killed 21 people and injured eight others.

The remaining passengers on the Perlis-to-Singapore bus escaped with minor injuries and they later travelled to Singapore on different buses.

Sources told The Sunday Times that no Singaporeans were on board. Muar police said that the woman warded, Ms Tan Yee Kian, 22, works in Singapore.

Initial investigations show that the driver, Mr Tajudin Shaari, 49, may have been speeding.
