White House offers help

WASHINGTON - THE White House on Wednesday held a meeting of top intelligence and counter-terrorism officials after the deadly attacks in Mumbai and said it stood ready to help the Indian government. 'This afternoon, the White House National Security Council convened officials from counterterrorism and intelligence agencies as well as the State and Defence Departments,' the White House said in a statement. 'The US government continues to monitor the situation, including the safety and security of our citizens, and stands ready to assist and support the Indian government.' 'The United States condemns this terrorist attack and we will continue to stand with the people of India in this time of tragedy,' it added. -- AFP | |
