Ferdinand back in training
| LONDON - RIO Ferdinand was back training with his Manchester United teammates on Monday, putting the defender on track to play in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.
The England international damaged his ribs and bruised a lung in the 1-0 first leg victory last week at Old Trafford. Ferdinand coughed up blood and spent the night in hospital after a collision with United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. He was left out of Saturday's 2-0 win at Middlesbrough in the Premier League. His presence at training before the European champions traveled to London ahead of Tuesday's second leg was particularly welcome after Patrice Evra limped off at Middlesbrough with a leg injury. Although United manager Alex Ferguson said Evra should be fit to face Arsenal, the France fullback did not train in the open section of United's session Monday morning. -- AP | |
