The Malaysian lost last week's All England final in straight games to Lin and before Sunday's victory Chong Wei had succumbed in nine of their last 10 matches in individual tournaments, including last year's Olympic final in Beijing.

The women's title went to China's rising force Wang Yihan.

The 21-year-old followed up her All England triumph with a 21-17 17-21 21-13 success over compatriot Jiang Yanjiao.
