Kimi not afraid of Alonso
| ROME - FORMER world champion Kimi Raikkonen claimed on Thursday that he doesn't feel his place at Ferrari is under threat from Renault's Fernando Alonso.
While the Finn was in blistering form in 2007, he often flattered to deceive last year and speculation has been rife that Ferrari will move to replace him with 2005 and 2006 world champion Alonso. But Raikkonen is confident he will see out his career with the Italian manufacturer. 'This will probably be the last team I race for. I don't want to leave and I'm happy where I am, I have another two years on my contract,' he said from Ferrari's base camp at Maranello. 'I have a contract for this season and next season so I'm not worried about these rumours. I don't feel under pressure, I have a two-year contract and we'll see what happens thereafter.' Raikkonen has yet to test the new F60, which was unveiled on Monday but he will take it for a spin in Portugal next week. 'I don't yet know what the car is like so to give a better assessment I want to wait for the first tests in Portimao,' he added. -- AFP | |
