| WHAT better way is there to spend the festive season than with your heart in your mouth? If you're a motorsports enthusiast, that is.
Local drift drivers met one of Japan's top professional drifters on Friday, Nobuteru Taniguchi. Here in Singapore for the first time, Mr Taniguchi blazed the trail with some heart-stopping drifting action. 'I've seen local drift driver Ivan Lim racing. So far, his performance on the circuit is up to standard,' said Mr Taniguchi. Local drift drivers took the chance to pick up some techniques, as Mr Taniguchi set tyres a-burnin' with smoking drift moves. 'This experience is really amazing, as we don't often get the chance to see a professional drift driver showing us the circuit,' said local professional drifter Ivan Lim, who has been drifting for about three years. Mr Taniguchi, who is best known for setting Time Attack or fastest lap track records throughout Japan, is in Singapore for the Carrerista Jamboree 2008. Held at Changi Exhibition Centre, the motoring jamboree will take place over the last 5 days of the year, starting tomorrow. Motoring enthusiasts can expect a host of adrenaline-pumping activities, including a drift competition, drift demonstrations, a quarter-mile drag race, as well as karting. The jamboree will end the year in a blast with a countdown party. Tickets come at $20 a pop for adults, and $10 for children. | |
