CONSUMERS in Laos, Vanuatu in the South Pacific and even the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa will soon be able to buy the Kindle e-book reader.

But bookworms in Singapore, one of the world's most wired nations, will not be able to do so - not yet, anyway.

The good news is that Kindle- maker Amazon is working on shipping it here as soon as possible, said Amazon spokesman Stephanie Mantello.
