SINGAPORE Technologies Aerospace (ST Aero) has inked a US$32.5 million (S$47.3 million) deal with Iceland-based Primera Air. Under the contract, the Singapore company will do maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) work for the carrier's aircraft components for eight years; and landing gears, for five years. This is for Primera's current fleet of six Boeing 737 aircraft, and six more planes that will join the family soon. ST Aero has worked with the airline for about three years now. The recent deal is the third such contract the company has bagged within a month, ST Aero said in a statement on Wednesday. The earlier two deals for components support were signed with Shanghai Airlines and Denmark-based Cimber Sterling. Primera Air's chief executive officer, Jon Karl Olafsson said: 'Over the years, ST Aerospace has proven to be a reliable, proactive and flexible supplier...We believe that ST Aerospace will be able to render invaluable support to Primera Air as we continue on our path of expansion.' The airline is fully owned by Primera Travel Group, which operates travel agencies and tour operating companies in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Ireland and Estonia. ST Aero's president Tay Kok Kiang said the recent component support deals attest to the growing popularity of the firm's programme. The components and engines business account for about half of ST Aero's annual revenues. The company said the deal with Primera Air is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of its parent ST Engineering for the current financial year. | |
