FALLING asleep on a public bus cost a woman more than $1000 in cash and valuables on Monday evening. The 56-year-old had boarded bus service 66 going towards Jurong East near the Jalan Besar hawker centre at about 5.30pm that day. On the way she dozed off, and woke up only when the bus arrived at the interchange at Jurong East at about 7.30 pm. It was only when she tried to take out her ez-link card to tap it before alighting that she realised her plastic card holder had been taken from her side pocket. The holder contained her ez-link card and other personal belongings such as her identity and ATM cards, as well as $1,050 cash. Another woman also fell prey to snatch thief on Tuesday afternoon as she was heading home. The woman, who is in her 50s, was at the void deck of Block 810, Jurong West St 81 when she noticed a man coming towards her. When he came next to her, he snatched her beige purse and fled towards a nearby multi-storey carpark. The purse contained about $100 cash as well as personal belongings like her identity card. The thief looked to be in his 20s, about 1.7 metres tall and with a fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and jeans. | |
