ENGINEERING manager Mr Terrence Ng had always been susceptible to catching the flu bug and would visit a doctor for treatment at least once every month as recently as two years back.

However, he has noticed an improvement in his health since he attended Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) classes at the TCM College last year.

So far this year, he has seen the doctor only once.

The number of new applicants for courses at the TCM College, set up by the Singapore TCM Organisations Committee (Stoc) in 2002, leapt from 120 last year to 200 this year. About four in five applicants were from outside the TCM industry.

The Vice-Dean of the TCM College, Professor Feng Jiayang, said the students, most of whom are Singaporeans, are aged between 30 and 39. -- MY PAPER
