THE Singapore Police Force have been preparing and gearing up for an Influenza A(H1N1-2009) outbreak ever since Health Ministry raised the alert level to yellow. The police highlighted some of the measures undertaken in a statement released on Sunday night. Some of these include: - All police officers are reminded regularly to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene such as keeping their hands clean by using sanitisers issued to them. - Officers are to take their temperatures twice a day with themometers issued to them. - Officers with flu or flu-like symptoms are told to put on surgical masks and seek medical attention. - Flexible work arrangements or leave of absence are implemented to staff who have travelled to affected countries or have come in close contact with a person who has been served with a quarantine order or are suspected or confirmed flu cases. - Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of buildings, offices, common areas, vehicles and boats have been implemented. - Since June 22, the police have started a team segregration arrangement, dividing officers into teams and minimising contacts to mitigate any threat of a spread. The Police Coast Guard in Brani Base is among the new H1N1 clusters. All officers who had come into contact with an infected personnel would immediately be asked to stay at home and seek immediate medical attention should they feel unwell. The police assured the public that the force has in place Business Continuity Plans to ensure that its core functions will not be compromised. | |
