Slashed, stabbed to death
By Kimberly Spykerman , Goh Yi Han

A CHINESE national was arrested on Friday morning for murder after his ex-wife was found stabbed and slashed to death in her Queensway flat.

The 46-year-old was nabbed in the vicinity of Block 23B at Queen's Close, where his former wife, Ms Wei Hong, 41, lived in a ninth-storey unit with their teenage son and three other tenants.

Ms Wei, a Singapore permanent resident, was found lying face-up on the floor of her bedroom. She had multiple knife wounds to her upper body, hands and legs.

Forensic officers were seen bagging a chopper and a fruit knife found at the ground floor of the block.

The fruit knife was found near the rubbish chute while the chopper was about 50m away, under a sink. Both weapons are believed to have been flung down from the flat.

A trail of blood nearby led to the lift lobby. More was found on the eighth floor.

Police said the suspect fled the murder scene but was arrested in the vicinity soon after.

The dead woman's 17-year-old son was not in the four-room flat at that time, but three Vietnamese students, who rent rooms from Ms Wei, were in the flat.

Ms Wei and her ex-husband, who has been working in Singapore for the last two months, were heard arguing in the flat a while before she was killed.
