H1NI flu outbreak
AYG footballer has flu
A MEMBER of the Philippines football team, who arrived on Thursday for the first Asian Youth Games, has been confirmed with the H1N1 virus.

The 14-year-old developed symptoms yesterday afternoon. He sought medical attention, and laboratory results confirmed his infection this morning, said organisers.

He has been admitted to the Communicable Disease Centre, while his 17 teammates and two coaches have been quarantined at the Aloha Resorts in accordance with the AYG's contingency plans for H1N1.

Football preliminaries began yesterday, but matches involving the Philippines team will be postponed.

Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan said the AYG, which starts officially on June 29, will go on as planned.
