Dead baby found on landing
| A DEAD baby was found in a white plastic bag on a staircase landing at Bukit Batok on Wednesday, The New Paper (TNP) reported.
Mr Shahjahan, a 28-year-old cleaner, found the baby while washing the common area of Block 334 in Bukit Batok Street 32 at about 4.20pm but informed his supervisor only around 5.30pm. When asked why he did not alert someone earlier, Mr Shahjahan simply shrugged his shoulders and smiled. His foreman Mr Nasir Hossain, who did not believe Mr Shahjahan at first, thinking he had found a toy baby, later informed their cleaning company's boss, who told him to call the police. Police officers and an ambulance arrived within minutes. The baby, said to be a fair-skinned boy measuring about 25cm in length, was pronounced dead at 6.15pm. Mr Nasir said he 'didn't see anything' when he was sweeping the block earlier that morning. Police are investigating the unnatural death. | |
