AN ODD-JOB worker was fined $4,000 on Wednesday for outraging the modesty of a dental student last year.

Perumal Kanaran, 46, pleaded guilty to touching her thigh and buttocks while receiving dental treatment from the 19-year-old.

The offences were committed at the School Dental Clinic on the fourth floor of the Health Promotion Board Building in Outram.

A district court heard that on the morning of Nov 13, Perumal first touched the victim's right thigh.

She moved away but Perumal did not get the message.

When she was examining X-ray films of his teeth, he touched her buttocks.

She broke down after Perumal left the clinic at about 1pm.

It is not known why she only made a police report five days later.
