One goodie bag, multiple roles
THIS year's National Day Parade funpacks will play many roles. The convertible messenger-cum-tote bags come in eight bright colours and have interchangeable flaps.

Some of them will be packed by the Community Chest and Yellow Ribbon Project beneficiaries and Institute of Mental Health patients as a rehabilitation activity.

About 135,000 packs will be distributed at the National Education shows, the preview and the parade.

Another 10,000 red and white special-edition packs will be given to those who donate at least $15 to the Community Chest.

And to share the eco-responsibility message, most non-food items in the pack are recycled or recyclable - from the plastic poncho to the heart-shaped torch and drum.

Spectators who take the plastic torch and drum to Mr Bean soya bean snack outlets for recycling before Aug 31 will receive discounts on food items.
