| THE Singapore Traffic Police will be the presenting sponsors for July's Formula Drift ProAm Series.
They are hoping to leverage on the popularity of the sport and its target audience of young drivers and to launch one of their major road safety campaigns for this year. Said Deputy Superintendent of Police Soh Wan Khuan at Tuesday's launch: 'We recognise that with the proper rules and regulations in place, drifiting is an exciting sport. It is important of course that safety remains the priority for all those involved.' The event, into its second year, will see 28 amateur drift drivers from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong compete at the Plaza at Changi Exhibition Centre. Tickets for the July 4 and 5 event will be available through Sistic from Saturday. Top Singaporean drift driver Ivan Lim, 27, who finished 10th in last year's inaugural competition, will again compete in this year's edition. | |
