Fake cop arrested

| A 32-YEAR-OLD Chinese man was arrested on Monday for pretending to be a cop and intimidating a couple at a shopping mall carpark after a police report was made.
According to an article posted on STOMP, the couple had been driving cautiously up the slope of Plaza Singapura's carpark on June 2, but was repeatedly honked at by an impatient driver from behind. When the husband confronted the driver, it was instead the driver's passenger who got out of the car and expressed his unhappiness at the slow speed the couple had been driving at. The man claimed to be a police officer from the Secret Society Branch (SSB) and tried to use his status to intimidate the other man. However, when asked to provide identification to prove his official status, the 'cop' was unable to do so. The couple subsequently made a police report with video evidence of the incident which the wife had recorded on her handphone to back up their claims. In response to media queries, police have confirmed that the man who claimed to be a police officer from the Secret Society Branch (SSB) is not a police officer. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had mentioned that he was a police officer to scare the complainant. Investigations are still ongoing. | |
