| AN OPPORTUNISTIC thief stole an unattended bag from a swimming complex, found a car key inside and went on to steal items from the car, even locking it after that.
The owner of the bag had left it unattended at Geylang Bahru Swimming Complex when he went for a swim there at 7pm on Tuesday evening. When he got out of the pool about an hour later, he found the bag missing. He rushed to his car to check since his car key was in the bag. Finding his car locked, he called a friend who had a spare key to his car, and unlocked it to find his Blackberry mobile phone and iPhone gone, along with other personal items. In another theft, a 20-year-old student had her laptop and charger worth $2,000 stolen in the space of 10 minutes when she left her bag unattended at a McDonald's outlet at Harbourfront Square on May 25. She had gone to the counter to buy her meal, and returned a short while later to find her laptop and charger missing from the bag. Anyone with information can call the police hotline on 1800-255-0000. | |
