Errant boss faces 100 counts

AN EMPLOYER was hauled to court on Thursday for failing to pay the salaries of 100 foreign workers totalling about $77,000. Julian Yip Si Wei, 26, of Zippon Marine and Engineering, allegedly failed to pay each of the marine workers $768 from Jan 8 to Feb 24. He is the third employer to be charged for non-payment of workers' salaries. His case will be mentioned on July 2. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $5,0000 and/or a jail term of up to six months on each charge. | |
