H1N1 FLU OUTBREAK
3 more flu cases probed
| THREE new suspected cases of the Influenza A (H1N1) flu were investigated over the weekend - but none came up positive.
Two cases were reported on Saturday, with one more on Sunday. The tally of investigated cases in Singapore for the H1N1 virus now stands at 43. Of them, 35 cases were negative, while eight people had the seasonal flu. Worldwide, there have been 12,022 confirmed cases in 43 countries, according to the latest World Health Organisation update on Saturday afternoon. Of these cases, 86 people have died. In Japan, where 340 - and counting - people have caught the H1N1 flu, the authorities are easing up on measures. They will re-open schools, kindergartens, universities and senior-citizen centres in Hyogo and Osaka prefectures, which were previously closed to prevent the virus from spreading rapidly, officials said over the weekend. Meanwhile, around the region, more confirmed cases were reported in the Philippines, South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Australia. | |
