| UNDERTAKER Roland Tay Hai Choon, 61, was sentenced to six months' jail on Wednesday morning for criminal intimidation and his role in beating up a former business partner.
In a May 2007 altercation outside the Lavender Street premises of funeral services company All Saints Christian Bereavement (ASCB), he swung a crow bar at Mr Paul Wong Wah Suang, 53, and threatened to kill him. Three of his male employees at the scene also took part in the assault, using their fists and even a plastic chair. Raj M Perumal, 45, was given two months' jail, while the other two - Suresh Kannan Selvi and Marie Kelvin Mark, both 34, were sentenced to one month jail each. Tay, the director of Direct Singapore Funeral Services, is known for stepping forward to bear the funeral costs of murder victims such as China girl Huang Na and Kallang body-parts victim Liu Hong Mei. | |
