Suspended from tobacco sale
| A CONVENIENCE shop in Admiralty MRT station has been barred from selling tobacco products for six months, said the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on Monday.
An employee at Hub Seng Huat Newspapers Agency, located at 70 Woodlands Avenue 7, was caught selling cigarettes to a person below the 18 in March. This is the second time an employee from the outlet has been caught committing a similar offence. HSA has suspended the shop's licence to sell tobacco products from May 16 till Nov 15. Selling tobacco products to underaged persons is an offence under the Smoking (Control of Advertisements and Sale of Tobacco) Act. Those who are caught may be fined up to $5,000 for the first offence and up to $10,000 for the second or subsequent conviction. The tobacco retail licences are also liable for suspension or revocation should the licensees and/or their employees repeat the offence. | |
