The CRA has already employed 75 people, well past the halfway mark for its full staff strength.

On Friday, at the statutory board's first workplan session, its chairman Richard Magnus said that Singapore's regulatory framework is based on the Government Protection Model.

The role of the state is to protect the industry and to ensure it is free from crime, he said.

Mr Magnus also said that protection for gamblers is also covered as the casinos are not allowed to promote gambling.

Around 150 people from various government agencies, including MTI, Iras, Home Team and the police attended the CRA workplan seminar on Friday held at the Police Cantonment Complex Auditorium.

The seminar was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng.
