A WOMAN was charged in court on Monday with setting fire to a place of worship in Geylang last Saturday.

Kerene Chua Kim Eng, 25, a cashier, is alleged to have committed mischief by fire at the Life Church & Missions at Lorong 27 Geylang.

She is being remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment.

If convicted, she face a life term or imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine.

The case will be mentioned on March 23.
