THE case of a former cabby accused of grievously hurting Yio Chu Kang MP Seng Han Thong has been adjourned for a pre-trial conference. Ong Kah Chua, 70, was back in court on Friday after a week's remand at Ang Mo Kio police station. Before that, he was remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment. He first appeared in court on Jan 12, a day after allegedly torching Mr Seng and Mr Aw Chui Seng, a temple chairman, at a community event at Yio Chu Kang Community Club on Jan 11. At his latest court appearance, the prosecution said it was still waiting for the victim's medical report and required a further two weeks. A pre-trial conference will be held on March 4. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 15 years and a fine on each charge. | |
