Cabby charged with molestation
By Elena Chong
A TAXI driver was charged in court on Thursday with molesting a 15-year-old girl and helping an illegal moneylender.

Heng Swee Weng, 56, allegedly touched and hugged the student in an SMRT taxi travelling between Parbury Avenue and Harvey Avenue on Nov 1 last year.

He is also said to have abetted an unknown loan shark to collect an ATM card each from two debtors on Feb 14 and June 12 last year.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years and/or fined for each count of outrage of modesty.

Under the Moneylending Act, he can be fined between $20,000 and $200,000 and/or jailed for up to two years on each charge.

Bail of $20,000 was offered and his case has been adjourned to March 2.
