Roads closure around Padang

SEVERAL roads in the vicinity of the Padang will be closed for the Chingay Parade which takes place on Friday and Saturday.

The Singapore Police Force and People's Association announced on Wednesday that Republic Boulevard, Temasek Avenue, Fullerton Road, Raffles Link and Parliament Place will be closed from 5.30pm to 1am on Friday.

Stamford Road, between Connaught Drive and St Andrew's Road, will also be closed between 6.30pm and 11pm on Friday night.

On Saturday, when City Alive!, said to be Singapore's biggest street dance party takes place, Repulic Boulevard, Raffles Avenue and Raffles Link will be closed from 5.30pm to 1am.

Other roads such as Connaught Drive and Coleman Street will be closed until 5am. Stamford Road, between Connaught Drive and St Andrew's Road, will also close between 7pm and 1am on Saturday night.

During the Chingay parade rehearsal, which takes place on Friday, two out of four lanes - travelling from Connaught Drive towards Beach Road/Stamford Road - will be closed from 10pm to 2am.

With the lane and road closures along City Hall to Raffles Avenue, traffic and buses will be diverted.

Motorists are advised to avoid affected areas and there will be auxillary police officers present to regulate the traffic.
