Slashed over gay remark

A BANGLADESHI worker who slashed his colleague on the cheek with a penknife was jailed for eight months on Monday. Kawsar Bhuiyan Kafil, 24, admitted to slashing Mr Faruq Hossain Romiguddin, 26, at Sembawang Shipyard on Nov 9 last year. The court heard that the victim had confronted Kawsar over rumours that the former had spread rumours about Mr Faruq being gay. When Kawsar refused, the victim held his left hand and tried to make him follow him. Suddenly, Kawsar pulled out a penknife and slashed the victim on his left cheek. The victim was warded for two days. Kawsar could have been jailed for up to seven years or fined or caned or received any combination of the the punishments. | |
