A FORMER housing agent was charged in court on Wednesday with pocketing about $140,000 and cheating the victim of $30,000. Liew Yong Chian, 41, is said to have misappropriated $139,894 belonging to Ms Lim Soo Ngin, 40, on May 18, 2006. He is also accused of deceiving Ms Lim into believing that she needed to show the Housing Board cash of $30,000 as a condition to buy a three-room flat in Balam Road, and induced her to take a cash loan from Mask Financing Services on April 19 that year. Liew has since made full restitution. He indicated that he wished to plead guilty. District Judge John Ng fixed his case for mention in another court on Friday. Bail of $10,000 was allowed. Liew's passport was impounded. | |
