Today to cut weekend copies
ENGLISH-LANGUAGE freesheet Today, published by MediaCorp, has cut circulation and advertising rates for its weekend edition.

According to a circular titled sent to advertisers, MediaCorp is cutting the print run of Weekend Today to 150,000 copies from Saturday. It did not say what the original print run of Weekend Today was.

It has also slashed its advertising rates by almost half, from $28 per column cm, to just $15.

The letter, signed by MediaCorp Press managing director Philip Koh, said the change was made because 'we understand that tough times are here and every cent matters'.

Today, with a readership of 590,000, is Singapore's second biggest English daily, a distant second behind The Straits Times, which is read by over 1.3 million daily, according to the 2008 Nielsen Media Index.
