| SINGAPORE Airlines will resume services to Bangkok from Friday.
The first flight from Suvarnabhumi Airport will depart for Singapore at 1.05pm local time. With the re-opening of the airport, additional relief flights from U-Tapao in Pattya will cease from Thursday night, SIA said in a statement on Thursday. The Singapore carrier started flying to U-Tapao after anti-government protesters occupied Suvarnabhumi on Nov 25, forcing it to shut down. SIA said it is contacting customers who are booked to travel from U-Tapao on Thursday to inform them of the change. Travellers are advised to expect some delays as the airport resumes services after a 10-day standstill. SIA subsidiary SilkAir is also reducing its additional flights between Phuket and Singapore to one per day - on top of the daily schedule of at least four flights - as capacity increases from Bangkok and demand for its relief flights tapers off. These additional flights will continue until Sunday. On Friday, SIA will operate three return flights between Singapore and Bangkok, plus one flight from Singapore to Bangkok then onto Tokyo Narita. From Saturday onwards, a three-times-daily return flight will operate, in addition to a flight in each direction between Bangkok and Tokyo Narita. SIA said it will monitor demand in coming days to determine whether the capacity is in line with demand, and may make further schedule adjustments. Customers affected by the flight changes should contact the airline on +66 2 353 6000 (in Bangkok) and on +65 6223 8888 (in Singapore). They can also get in touch with their travel agent or local SIA office to reconfirm their forward travel plans. | |
