Design group taps SPH editor

SINGAPORE Press Holdings' (SPH) Digital Media Editor Felix Soh has been appointed regional director (Asia/Pacific region) of The Society of News Design (SND) from December.

In a statement released by SND on Wednesday, the society's president Ms Gayle Grin said: 'As he straddles both print and new media, Felix is in an ideal position to help raise standards of design on behalf of SND. Felix has the passion and the energy to do a great job for SND. I'm so very happy he's joining our efforts in Asia.'

Mr Soh is the digital media editor of the English and Malay Newspapers Division of SPH, overseeing new media products like the straitstimes.com, AsiaOne, STOMP and The Straits Times Razor TV. He is also the consulting editor of the bilingual free newspaper my paper.

Said Mr Soh: 'It is a great honour to be appointed SND's regional director. My appointment is recognition of SPH's achievements in the media industry in the Asia-Pacific region.'

The Society for News Design, established in 1979, encourages high standards of journalism through design.

An international forum and resource for all those interested in news design, SND works to recognise excellence and strengthen visual journalism as a profession.

It has more than 2,600 members in the United States, Canada and more than 50 other countries, divided into 20 regions, with a membership base comprising editors, designers, graphic artists, publishers, illustrators, art directors, photographers, advertising artists and website designers, among others.
