Retailer's licence suspended

|
A TOBACCO retailer's licence has been suspended for six months, after an employee was caught selling cigarettes to an underaged person in October. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said in a statement on Tuesday that Lian Hwa Trading Company's licence will be suspended from Dec 1 to May 31 for breaking the law. The worker was also fined $2,000. This is the second time an employee of this outlet has been caught committing a similar offence. As the employees of this retail outlet have repeatedly committed the offence of selling tobacco products to underaged persons, HSA has decided to suspend its licence for six months. The offence is punishable with a maximum fine of up to $5,000 for the first offence and up to $10,000 for the recurrent offences. The tobacco retail licences are also liable for suspension or revocation should the licensees and/or their employees repeat the offence. | |
