By Esther Tan
A 25-YEAR-OLD man lost more than $18,000 in cash and valuables after his car was broken into early Wednesday morning.

He had parked and secured his car at an open-air carpark at Eng Hoon Street in Tiong Bahru.

But when he returned 45 minutes later at 2.15am, he found the car doors unlocked, said police.

He lost two handbags and a wallet valued at $5,600, a $1,700 laptop, a $1,000 cellphone and $9,800.

All the missing items had been left in the driver and front passenger seat.

In another break-in, a 24-year-old man lost eight sets of cellphones worth $9,600 from his car.

He had parked and secured his car at a multi-storey carpark at Parklane Shopping Mall along Selegie Road on Tuesday afternoon.

But when he returned an hour later, he found the vehicle doors unlocked and the cellphones left on the rear passenger seat were gone.

He also also lost a cashcard valued at $9.
