MAS unveils Ox year coins

|
| By Melissa Pang | |
| THE Montary Authority of Singapore (MAS) launched the 2009 Year of the Ox Almanac Coins and the 2009 Uncirculated Coin Set on Tuesday.
The coins are part of the third Chinese Almanac Coins Series. Designed by Shanghai Mint's Xu Yanfei, the design is meant to symbolise the characteristics of an ox and reflect the festive cheer. The 2009 $10 Silver Piedfort Proof Coin is minted with special colour application and features the ox in full colour. Selected premium sets will include a unique 8-sided floral-shaped ingot featuring a pair of oxen in a setting that signifies the arrival of spring. The coins will be sold by The Singapore Mint, which will issue the coins on Jan 3. Orders must reach the mint by Dec 23. | |
