Disabled finishes vertical race
By Melissa Sim

MR Adam Kamis, 29, is the first disabled person with a paralysed left arm and amputated right arm to complete the Swissotel Vertical Marathon on Sunday.

He was the 76th in his category for men aged 20 to 29, clocking a time of 12 minutes 34 seconds.

It was his first competition in the vertical race.

Another first-timer was German athlete Thomas Dold, 24. Mr Dold broke the previous 1989 record by three seconds, clocking 6 minutes and 52 seconds.

The economics undergraduate has travelled all over the world to cities such as New York, Milan, and Taipei for such events.

This year, he has won seven out of seven international competitions.

As the winner of the Men's open category, he will be flown to New York next year to participate in Empire State Building Run-up 2009.
