FORMER People's Action Party MP Mansor Sukaimi died on Friday, three months after he was diagnosed with leukaemia, a life-threatening blood disorder. He was 65. He was a two-term MP for Kampong Kembangan, serving from 1976 to 1984. When he left politics he became a consultant on early childhood development. Environment and Water resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim said he was saddened by Mr Mansor's death. 'Encik Mansor contributed a lot to the community, especially Mendaki. He was instrumental in its formation (in 1982). Even when I met him at the hospital recently, he was still very much in touch with developments in the community and shared his thoughts with me,' he said. 'The community has lost a son who has always been concerned about our well-being.' Mr Mansor died at 12.30pm at the Singapore General Hospital. His body was taken to the Sultan Mosque before his burial at the Choa Chu Kang Muslim cemetary on Friday evening. | |
