Man faces attempted murder

A 51-YEAR-OLD man allegedly attacked a woman with a chopper and lifted her over the parapet causing her to plunge three storeys to the ground floor last Friday. In the dock was Diong Tiong Ngo, a permanent resident, who is accused of trying to murder Indonesian-Chinese So Siok Wie, 51, a waitress, at the third floor corridor of Block 504 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 at about 1.30pm that day. Madam So was found semi-conscious at the ground floor of the block, where she lives in a rented flat with her teenage son. Diong, who is represented by Mr Ramesh Tiwary, was remanded at Ang Mo Kio police division for a week. He will appear in court again on Wednesday. If convicted, he faces imprisonment up to life or a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine. No caning will be imposed as he is above 50. Madam So is still in hospital in a stable condition. | |
