3,500 at scientific congress

SOME 3,500 healthcare professionals and scientists are expected to converge on Suntec City for the two-day National Healthcare Group Annual Scientific Congress which opened on Friday.

The congress, themed Science, Medicine and Lifestyle - Impact on Tomorrow's Health, features more than 400 scientific findings, ranging from cancer research to reducing gambling addiction.

Three separate Memorandam of Understandings will be signed at the event on Saturday to cement partnerships for clinical and health services research between the healthcare group, the Health Sciences Authority, St Luke's Hospital and the Australian-based Joanna Briggs Institute.

A series of discussion dealing with issues such as medical care of the elderly, colorectal diseases and Aids will be held on Saturday.
